Ancient Siddha healers practiced the ancient Indian system of medicine known as Siddha medicine or Siddha Vaidya. The Siddha tradition originated in the ancient Southern India. It has a long history dating back thousands of years. Siddha medicine is one of the oldest healing systems in the world and is closely related to Ayurveda.

Siddha healers also use mineral and metal-based preparations in their medicines. These include substances like gold, silver, copper and various minerals.


4. Yogic Practices

Siddha healers often combine yogic practices, such as meditation, breathwork (pranayama), and specific yoga postures, to enhance overall well-being and support the healing process.


5. Siddha Scriptures

Siddha medicine knowledge and practices are documented in ancient Tamil texts called “Siddha manuscripts” or “Palm leaf manuscripts.” These texts contain detailed information on various diseases, herbal remedies, and treatment methods.

Siddha medicine integrates spiritual elements. Healing is linked to purification of the body and mind. Practices like fasting, sound vibrations and meditation are sometimes part of the treatment.


7. Marma Points

Like Ayurveda, Siddha medicine recognizes the significance of marma points (vital energy points) in the body. Massage, pressure and needles are applied on these points to encourage healing.


8. Personalized Treatment

Siddha healers consider individual constitution, lifestyle and specific health conditions to develop a personalised treatment plan for each patient.
